Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a hospital providing 24/7 emergency and specialty care for dogs and cats and is currently hiring for a Medical Director (ER / Specialty) role. The position combines hands-on clinical work with senior leadership oversight across both emergency and specialty services.
Working Hours / Rota
The hospital operates 24/7. The role is full-time, based on a four-day work week, and includes dedicated administrative time to support leadership responsibilities. Doctor hours are open to discussion, allowing flexibility in scheduling.
Role Description and Responsibilities
This is an experienced-level position focused on delivering a full scope of emergency medicine while also providing leadership and oversight of the ER and specialty departments. The Medical Director will balance clinical ER duties with strategic and operational leadership responsibilities. The role is open to experienced veterinarians only, requiring a minimum of two years of clinical experience. Suitable backgrounds include Emergency Veterinarian experience or board certification in medical oncology, emergency and critical care, surgery, radiology, or internal medicine.
Practice Details
The hospital is well equipped and offers a full scope of emergency and specialty services. The caseload spans both ER and specialty medicine, supported by strong infrastructure designed to facilitate high-level patient care and collaboration across departments.
Team
The team includes a large number of DVMs working across multiple departments, supported by an extremely well-trained support staff. The environment is structured to support collaboration across emergency and specialty services.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
