Introduction
A modern veterinary clinic in Aurora, Colorado is seeking a Medical Director to lead its primary and urgent care team. This hospital is part of an innovative veterinary care model designed to combine accessible general practice with convenient urgent care services, ensuring pets receive timely, high-quality treatment throughout the year. This position offers an experienced veterinarian the opportunity to practice advanced medicine while mentoring colleagues, shaping clinical standards, and helping guide the continued development of a progressive veterinary practice.
Working Hours / Rota
The clinic operates extended hours until 8:00pm, 365 days a year, supporting both preventative care and urgent medical needs for the local community. The role follows a structured 12-hour shift schedule with varied days, allowing strong clinical coverage while maintaining a sustainable work-life balance without overnight or on-call responsibilities.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will combine clinical practice with leadership responsibilities. This includes delivering high-quality primary and urgent care services, overseeing clinical protocols, mentoring veterinarians and technicians, and maintaining a high standard of patient care across the hospital. The role involves guiding case management, supporting team development, and collaborating with leadership teams to improve workflows and operational performance. The Medical Director will also help shape the clinic’s culture and contribute to the ongoing growth of this modern veterinary care model.

The hospital offers a hybrid model of general practice and urgent care, providing preventative services, diagnostics, surgery, and same-day appointments for urgent cases. The clinic is equipped with modern veterinary technology including laparoscopic surgical capabilities and AI-supported medical documentation tools designed to streamline record keeping and improve clinical efficiency. Team
The Medical Director will lead a collaborative veterinary team supported by a highly trained technician and assistant group, with approximately a 3:1 support staff ratio. Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
