Introduction
For a veterinarian who likes the idea of General Practice with the option to make their caseload considerably more varied, this hospital in Allentown, Pennsylvania is looking to welcome an Associate Veterinarian, with full-time, part-time and relief opportunities available. Providing care for dogs and cats alongside birds, reptiles, amphibians, small mammals and other exotic pets, the hospital offers a genuinely diverse clinical environment while still providing the continuity and client relationships of General Practice. There’s flexibility around how involved you become with exotics, making this equally interesting for someone who already has an exotic medicine interest or a veterinarian who wants the opportunity to develop one with experienced people around them.

Role Description and Responsibilities
This role encompasses the full scope of General Practice responsibilities, giving you ownership of cases across preventive medicine, diagnostic work-ups, treatment planning, dentistry and surgery. Depending on your individual interests and experience, you’ll also have the opportunity to become involved with the hospital’s avian and exotic caseload, adding considerably more variety to the working week. Clinical autonomy is encouraged, but there’s also a strong focus on teamwork and having people around you to bounce ideas off when cases become more involved. Applications are welcomed from both experienced veterinarians and recent graduates, with structured onboarding, mentorship and continued professional development available to help you build confidence, develop new interests and progress at a pace that works for you.

Practice Details
The hospital operates from a recently relocated facility and provides a full scope of GP services alongside Avian and Exotic Medicine, advanced dentistry and surgery. Equipment and clinical capabilities available include, but are not limited to, Digital Radiography and Ultrasound, alongside advanced dental capabilities, a fully stocked In-House Pharmacy and additional diagnostic resources to support its varied caseload. Having equipment and clinicians accustomed to working across multiple species is particularly useful here, allowing diagnostic and treatment plans to be adapted beyond traditional canine and feline medicine. The hospital also works closely with local wildlife and rescue organizations and provides Emergency and Urgent Care guidance for its clients. Current opening hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Saturday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and the hospital is closed on Sundays.

Team
You’ll currently be joining an established 4-DVM team, several members of which have been with the hospital for a number of years and bring experience across traditional companion animal and exotic medicine. There’s a particularly strong interest in avian medicine within the existing team, alongside experience caring for reptiles, amphibians and small mammals, giving someone interested in exotics people to learn from rather than having to develop that side of their caseload alone. For a recent graduate, that also creates a useful environment for building confidence across everyday GP medicine before gradually expanding into different species and clinical interests, while experienced veterinarians will have the autonomy to bring their own strengths and ideas to the team.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
