Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a hospital hiring a full-time Lead Veterinarian to join a full-service veterinary hospital serving dogs and cats in Acworth, Georgia. This established practice has been serving Acworth and the surrounding communities since 1980 and is seeking an experienced veterinarian to serve as the medical leader of the hospital while supporting a collaborative and positive team culture.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Lead Veterinarian will oversee the medical care of all patients while managing a varied caseload of surgeries and appointments. Responsibilities include collaborating closely with the clinical team and hospital leadership, assisting the Practice Manager with staffing and scheduling, supporting medical quality initiatives, and serving as the veterinarian of record for all required hospital permits and licenses. The role also includes mentoring and encouraging the development of support staff, growing relationships within the practice and local community, and helping create a supportive and collaborative work environment. Surgical responsibilities include abdominal and soft tissue procedures such as hernia repairs, intestinal resections, liver biopsies, cystotomies, exploratory surgeries, gastropexies, dental surgery, mass removals, spays and neuters, and additional soft tissue procedures. This opportunity is best suited for an experienced veterinarian, although veterinarians with developing leadership aspirations will also be considered.

Practice Details
This feline-friendly, full-service veterinary hospital and boarding facility provides comprehensive medical and surgical care for companion animals. Services include wellness care, sick and urgent care, dentistry, end-of-life care, diagnostics, microchipping, pain management, parasite prevention, and surgery. The hospital performs a wide range of advanced soft tissue surgeries tailored to patient needs and emphasizes compassionate, individualized treatment plans. The practice has more than 40 years of combined experience caring for patients and clients and remains focused on delivering high-quality veterinary medicine in a comfortable and caring environment. Hospital hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 6:00pm, Saturday from 9:00am to 2:00pm, and closed on Sundays.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
