Job Description
Introduction
An AAHA-accredited small animal hospital in Portland, Oregon is seeking a dedicated Associate Veterinarian to join its team of three experienced doctors. Serving the community since 1986, the practice is recognized for its advanced medical capabilities, compassionate care, and collaborative work environment.
Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The position offers a flexible schedule of three to four days per week, designed to provide both professional fulfillment and work-life balance.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Associate Veterinarian will provide comprehensive medical, surgical, and diagnostic care for companion animals while building strong client relationships. Responsibilities include performing examinations, developing treatment plans, conducting surgeries and dental procedures, interpreting diagnostic results, and contributing to a positive, team-oriented culture. This role is ideal for a veterinarian passionate about delivering high-quality care and open to practicing advanced medicine, including regenerative therapies and minimally invasive procedures.
Practice Details
The hospital has proudly maintained AAHA accreditation for over 25 years and operates in a modern, well-equipped facility. Diagnostic and treatment resources include digital radiography, ultrasonography, digital dental radiography, a C-arm fluoroscope, and an in-house laboratory. The surgical suite supports advanced procedures such as laparoscopy and arthroscopy. The practice also integrates regenerative medicine into its general and specialty services and partners with a board-certified surgeon for complex orthopedic and soft tissue cases.
Team
The current team consists of three veterinarians supported by skilled technicians and a dedicated support staff. The practice emphasizes collaboration and communication, creating a professional and welcoming environment for both clients and team members.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
