General Practice (Medical Director Veterinarian)

Job Description

Introduction
Our client is an award-winning, AAHA-accredited veterinary practice seeking a full-time Avian & Exotics Medical Director to lead a thriving, multi-species team. This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of the practice, mentor veterinarians, and provide exceptional care to a diverse range of species, with a primary focus on avian and exotic patients.

Working Hours / Rota
The practice is open Monday through Thursday from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, Friday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, and is closed on weekends. The hospital closes from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm every Wednesday. This is a full-time position with no after-hours requirements.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Avian & Exotics Medical Director will be proficient in general medicine, surgery, and dentistry across a variety of species, with avian and exotic patients as the primary focus. Responsibilities include staff leadership and mentorship, overseeing medical quality assurance, managing client relations, and ensuring excellence in patient care. The position is open to both experienced veterinarians and those newer to leadership who are eager to develop their skills in a supportive environment.

Practice Details
The practice is equipped with advanced diagnostic and treatment tools, including digital radiography, ultrasound, and an in-house laboratory. Services offered include wellness care, vaccinations, microchipping, dental care, spay and neuter procedures, surgery, urgent and emergency care, integrative and holistic care, laser therapy, dermatology and allergy management, canine rehabilitation, and specialized care for avian, reptile, and small mammal patients. The practice culture is collaborative, innovative, and committed to excellence in veterinary medicine, client service, and community engagement.

Team
The team consists of seven DVMs supported by a tenured and highly skilled support staff, maintaining a strong doctor-to-staff ratio to ensure efficiency, collaboration, and high-quality patient care.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
