General Practice (Medical Director Veterinarian)

Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a well-established veterinary hospital in East Windsor, New Jersey, currently hiring for a Medical Director to lead their team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced veterinarian to step into a key leadership position within a hospital known for its high standard of care, strong community ties, and collaborative environment.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position, though part-time or relief work may also be considered. The hospital is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Saturday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and closed on Sundays. The schedule includes both clinical and leadership responsibilities, with approximately 30% of time allocated to management duties and 70% to clinical work.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will oversee the medical quality and patient care provided by all doctors, set and drive the hospital’s strategic direction, and contribute to overall financial success. Clinical responsibilities include a focus on small/companion animal care, advanced diagnostics, surgery, dentistry, and wellness services. This role is open to experienced veterinarians who are passionate about mentorship, collaboration, and delivering gold-standard medicine.

Practice Details
The hospital is AAHA-accredited and fear-free certified, offering a full suite of services including advanced care, general and soft tissue surgery, diagnostic imaging, digital radiology, echocardiography, ultrasound, dental care, preventative medicine, and pain management. The facility includes an in-house laboratory, pharmacy, surgical suite, isolation ward, and a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic tools. The hospital has served the local community since 1997 and is supported by a broader infrastructure that enables a high standard of care.

Team
The team includes three current DVMs and a highly skilled support staff. The environment is collaborative, mentoring-focused, and committed to professional development. The team culture emphasizes trust, learning, and delivering compassionate care to both patients and clients.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
