Introduction
Our client is a full-service small animal hospital seeking a Medical Director Veterinarian to lead their established team. They provide comprehensive care for dogs and cats and are looking for a leader who can oversee clinical standards, team development, and day-to-day hospital performance while continuing to deliver high-quality veterinary medicine.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital offers flexible full-time scheduling. The role requires an on-site presence and involves a schedule of 40+ hours per week to meet client and caseload needs, including the potential for 10+ hour shifts, Saturdays, evenings, and holidays. The position is fully in-hospital with no remote work available.

Role Description and Responsibilities
This position carries full oversight of medical quality, client service, and hospital operations. Clinical responsibilities include delivering high-quality care across preventative medicine, diagnostics, dentistry, anesthesia, and surgery, while maintaining accurate medical records and adhering to all regulatory guidelines. The role also involves mentoring associate doctors, supporting talent acquisition and development, guiding training, ensuring adherence to protocols, resolving client or team concerns, and contributing to community outreach. It is suited to an experienced veterinarian with prior leadership or management experience, as the position requires a minimum of five years in practice along with a background in training and supporting other doctors and paraprofessional staff.

Practice Details
The hospital provides a broad range of services supported by diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities that include in-house blood testing, radiography, ultrasound, dental radiography, cold laser therapy, an on-site pharmacy, and surgical and dental facilities. Their caseload spans preventative care, wellness screenings, dentistry, surgical procedures, and urgent care. The environment is described as collaborative, supportive, and focused on high-quality medical standards, with an emphasis on clinician well-being and work-life balance.

Team
The team consists of experienced Certified Veterinary Technicians, assistants, and receptionists who work closely together in a supportive and collaborative setting. The Principal Veterinarian leads the associate doctor(s) and partners with the practice manager to ensure smooth operations, strong communication, and ongoing professional development for the wider support team.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
