Our client is an emergency and critical care hospital in Yorktown, Virginia, seeking an Emergency Veterinarian to join their expanding after-hours team. This hospital is dedicated to delivering urgent, high-quality medical care for small animals and select exotic pets during nights, weekends, and holidays. It is an excellent opportunity for a veterinarian who is passionate about fast-paced, impactful emergency medicine within a collaborative and genuinely supportive environment.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital operates exclusively during after-hours, ensuring that every shift is focused entirely on emergency and critical care. Weekday shifts run from 5:30pm to 8:00am, and both daytime and overnight shifts are available on weekends. The role offers flexibility for full-time or part-time scheduling. There is no general practice or routine daytime workload, allowing veterinarians to concentrate solely on emergency cases.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Emergency Veterinarian will manage urgent and critical cases with confidence and compassion, performing triage, diagnostics, stabilization, treatments, and emergency surgeries as required. The role requires sound clinical judgment and the ability to navigate high-pressure situations with a clear and steady approach. Veterinarians will engage with clients during some of the most stressful moments of pet ownership, offering clear communication and supportive care. The hospital is open to both experienced emergency veterinarians and new graduates who demonstrate strong foundational skills and enthusiasm for emergency medicine, with mentorship available for those ready to grow into the role.

Practice Details
The emergency hospital features advanced imaging and diagnostic tools, digital radiography, ultrasound, an in-house laboratory, and comprehensive pharmacy services. A fully equipped surgical suite, oxygen therapy, critical care monitoring, and hospitalization capabilities ensure veterinarians can provide immediate, life-saving treatment. Services include emergency examinations, stabilization, wound management, toxicology cases, urgent surgical procedures, respiratory support, and other critical interventions. The culture is highly collaborative, with a close-knit, supportive team that values communication, trust, and balance in a traditionally demanding area of veterinary medicine.

Team
The hospital is staffed by a team of three dedicated emergency veterinarians and a strong, experienced group of licensed technicians and support staff. Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
