Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a hospital preparing to provide emergency veterinary care for dogs and cats in Wilmington, North Carolina, and is seeking an experienced Emergency Veterinarian to join the team. The practice is open to both full-time and part-time applicants and will operate from a brand-new facility designed to provide around-the-clock emergency care and advanced medical support across the Cape Fear region.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Emergency Veterinarian will provide urgent and emergency medical care to patients requiring immediate treatment, working within a hospital designed to deliver 24/7 emergency services. The veterinarian will work collaboratively with the clinical team and referring primary care veterinarians to provide advanced medical support and continuity of care. Scheduling for the position will be discussed with the hospital team. This position is specifically for an experienced veterinarian.

Practice Details
The hospital is a new 17,000-square-foot facility designed with modern treatment and surgical spaces, advanced imaging capabilities, and capacity for future expansion. Clinical resources include digital radiology, ultrasound, an in-house IDEXX laboratory, Heska EPOC, blood products, and electronic medical record technology. The facility is designed to support 24/7 emergency services, specialty surgery, and advanced diagnostic imaging, with around-the-clock emergency care planned for patients throughout the region.

Team
The hospital currently has three DVMs committed to the location. The clinical environment will include experienced emergency leaders and RVTs, including some pursuing VTS credentials in Emergency and Critical Care, with a focus on collaboration, mentorship, kindness, empathy, and a positive working environment. Clinical leadership includes a boarded anesthesiologist serving as Medical Director, alongside a boarded surgeon and an experienced emergency clinician.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
