Introduction
Our client is a hospital providing care for cats, dogs, avian species, and exotic patients and is seeking a full-time Veterinary Emergency Clinician to join their team in West Islip, New York. This AAHA-accredited emergency and specialty hospital provides round-the-clock emergency and critical care services while supporting a broad range of specialty disciplines. The opportunity is ideal for experienced emergency clinicians who are passionate about delivering high-quality veterinary care and building strong client relationships within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Veterinary Emergency Clinician will be responsible for providing comprehensive patient examinations, medical work-ups, emergency care, diagnostic procedures, and surgery. Additional responsibilities include client communication and education, maintaining accurate medical records, prescribing medications while adhering to controlled substance protocols, and monitoring patient progress throughout hospitalisation. The role involves collaborating with veterinarians, technicians, support staff, hospital leadership, and specialty teams to ensure the highest standards of patient care are maintained. Responsibilities also include attending rounds when possible, evaluating hospital protocols from intake through discharge, supporting staff efficiency, participating in management updates and training initiatives, and contributing to the daily operation of the hospital. This position is intended for experienced veterinarians.

Practice Details
This AAHA-accredited hospital provides 24-hour emergency veterinary services, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The facility offers a wide range of specialty services including acupuncture, anesthesia, avian and exotic medicine, cardiology, critical care, dentistry and oral surgery, dermatology, hemodialysis, internal medicine, neurology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, ophthalmology, physical therapy, and surgery. The hospital is staffed by emergency veterinarians who work closely with veterinary specialists and referring veterinarians to provide comprehensive patient care. Board-certified veterinary criticalists provide continuous monitoring and intensive care services for patients requiring advanced treatments, therapies, and ongoing observation. The hospital emphasizes collaboration, high clinical standards, and multidisciplinary care to support complex emergency and specialty cases.

Team
The hospital is staffed by more than 40 DVMs working alongside technicians, support staff, hospital leadership, and board-certified specialists. The environment is highly collaborative, with emergency clinicians working closely with specialty services, critical care teams, and referring veterinarians to provide exceptional patient care and clinical support.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
