Job Description
Introduction
An established AAHA-accredited veterinary hospital in Snohomish, Washington is seeking an Emergency Veterinarian to join its experienced 24/7 emergency and critical care team. Serving the Snohomish and wider Puget Sound communities since 1963, the hospital provides primary care alongside round-the-clock emergency services for dogs and cats and has developed into an important veterinary resource for the region. This is an excellent opportunity for an ER veterinarian looking for a busy, collaborative environment with substantial clinical support, strong continuity of care and access to a wider network of veterinary expertise.
Working Hours / Rota
The hospital operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with this position specifically offering swing and overnight shifts. The opportunity would suit a veterinarian who enjoys emergency medicine and prefers working later or overnight hours within an established hospital where emergency and critical patients can be managed continuously rather than transferred at closing time. Full-time opportunities are available, with the exact rota and balance of swing and overnight shifts to be discussed based on the needs of the hospital and successful candidate.
Role Description and Responsibilities
As an Emergency Veterinarian, you’ll assess, diagnose and treat a diverse range of canine and feline emergency and critical care presentations, using your clinical judgement to develop appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans while communicating clearly with owners throughout what can often be stressful situations. You’ll work closely with experienced veterinary support staff and fellow doctors to manage hospitalized and emergency patients, with the benefit of 24-hour care and strong collaboration across the hospital. Previous emergency medicine experience is strongly preferred, whether gained through clinical practice, a small animal rotating internship or an emergency internship. Candidates should hold a DVM or equivalent qualification and be licensed, or eligible for licensure, in Washington, with an active DEA licence or eligibility to obtain one.
Practice Details
This long-established, AAHA-accredited hospital provides a broad range of veterinary services and has been caring for animals throughout the region for more than 60 years. A dedicated support team works alongside the veterinary staff to provide 24-hour emergency and critical care, while primary care and integrative services are also available within the hospital. Although small animal specialists are not based on site, the team works closely with a sister specialty hospital, providing access to specialist expertise and supporting a collaborative approach when patients require advanced care. Located around 30 miles north of Seattle, Snohomish combines a historic small-town atmosphere with easy access to the wider Puget Sound region, while hiking, skiing and water-based recreation are all readily accessible for those looking to make the most of the Pacific Northwest outside of work.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
