Introduction
Our client is a 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital in Sacramento, California, seeking an Overnight Emergency Veterinarian. The hospital operates from a custom-designed 27,000 sq ft facility and provides advanced veterinary care across a range of specialties, supported by world-class technology and a talented team.

Working Hours / Rota
This is an overnight position within a hospital that operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The role offers the opportunity to focus on emergency and critical care during after-hours shifts.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Overnight Emergency Veterinarian will manage urgent and critical cases, supported by specialists in cardiology, internal medicine, radiology, surgery, neurology, oncology, and rehabilitation. Clinical responsibilities include emergency and critical care medicine such as aggressive analgesia, continuous ECG monitoring and telemetry, direct blood pressure monitoring, mechanical ventilation, transfusion therapy, and advanced oxygen delivery methods. The role is designed for veterinarians seeking to deliver advanced emergency care within a collaborative, multi-specialty environment.

Practice Details
The hospital is equipped with 15 exam rooms, six surgical suites, an ER surgical room, a 64-slice Toshiba CT with automatic injector, 1.5 Tesla MRI, linear accelerator, endoscopic, laparoscopic, and thorascopic instrumentation, multiple ultrasounds including color flow Doppler, O2 cages, two digital radiology suites, and a C-arm. The in-house laboratory includes Abaxis CBC, PT/PTT, chemistry machines, Heska EPOC, I-stat, and a colloid osmometer. The hospital holds accreditations with the American Animal Hospital Association and the Feline Veterinary Medical Association. Specialty departments include cardiology, diagnostic imaging, emergency and critical care, internal medicine, oncology, neurology, radiation oncology, rehabilitation, and surgery.

The hospital is staffed with 27 DVMs across emergency and specialty services, supported by a large, highly skilled team. The environment is collaborative and team-focused, ensuring veterinarians are empowered to provide the highest standards of care.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
