Our client is a hospital providing care for dogs and cats and is seeking an Emergency Veterinarian to join their team. Full-time and part-time opportunities are available for an experienced veterinarian looking to practise high-quality emergency and critical care medicine in a busy 24-hour hospital. Role Description and Responsibilities
The Emergency Veterinarian will provide urgent, emergency, and critical care for dogs and cats presenting with a wide variety of medical and surgical emergencies. Responsibilities include assessing and stabilising emergency patients, performing diagnostic evaluations, developing treatment plans, carrying out emergency surgical procedures where appropriate, communicating clearly with clients, and maintaining accurate medical records. The successful candidate will work closely with emergency clinicians, specialty services, and support staff to deliver high-quality patient care while managing complex and time-sensitive cases. This opportunity is suited to an experienced veterinarian who is proficient in general medicine and surgery and thrives in a collaborative emergency setting.

Practice Details
This 24-hour emergency and critical care hospital has been serving the Roanoke community since 1994 and provides comprehensive emergency, urgent, and specialty veterinary services for dogs and cats. The hospital offers emergency and critical care, specialty surgery, in-house diagnostics, outpatient ultrasound, and at-home end-of-life care. The state-of-the-art facility is equipped with advanced diagnostic imaging, an in-house laboratory, pharmacy, and modern medical equipment, with access to an internist for advanced case support. The hospital manages a wide range of emergency conditions, including trauma, respiratory distress, toxicities, fractures, severe bleeding, and other life-threatening illnesses requiring immediate intervention. The practice operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing continuous emergency care for the local community while maintaining strong partnerships with local organisations and animal welfare groups.

Team
The hospital is supported by a team of 9 DVMs, comprising both emergency and specialty veterinarians, alongside a great tenured support team. The collaborative environment promotes teamwork, communication, and continuous professional development, ensuring every clinician has the support needed to provide exceptional emergency and critical care.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
