Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a specialty and emergency referral hospital located in Raritan, NJ. They are currently seeking a full-time Emergency Veterinarian to join their dynamic and collaborative team. This opportunity is open to both experienced DVMs and new graduates.
Working Hours / Rota
The emergency schedule typically includes three 12–13 hour shifts per week, with a combination of morning, swing, and overnight shifts to ensure overlapping coverage. An additional doctor is scheduled on Sundays to accommodate higher weekend caseloads. Part-time and relief shifts are also available.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Emergency Veterinarian will manage urgent and emergent cases, working closely with in-house specialists including a surgeon, internist, cardiologist, ophthalmologist, and dermatologist. ER doctors also have the opportunity to perform their own surgeries. New graduates will be scheduled alongside experienced clinicians for hands-on mentorship and support.
Practice Details
The hospital is AAHA accredited and fully equipped with digital radiography, ultrasound, an in-house lab (Heska and IDEXX analyzers), feline and canine endoscopy, four oxygen cages, and a dedicated ER surgical suite. The team environment is fun, supportive, and built on strong camaraderie, with many long-tenured staff and a culture that values collaboration and shared learning.
Team
There are currently six DVMs supported by a highly skilled, Fear Free-trained team of certified technicians and support staff.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
