Job Description
Introduction
For a veterinarian looking to develop their skills in Emergency medicine with experienced clinicians around them for support, this 24/7 hospital in Modesto, California is looking to welcome a Veterinarian into an ER-focused mentorship opportunity. Providing care for dogs and cats, the hospital combines round-the-clock Emergency medicine with General Practice, advanced diagnostics, surgery and ICU-level care, creating an environment where you can build confidence with more challenging cases while having the guidance and clinical resources around you to continue progressing.
Role Description and Responsibilities
This role is focused on helping you develop towards Emergency medicine through hands-on experience and mentorship, giving you exposure to a varied caseload while building your confidence across assessment, stabilization, diagnostics, treatment planning and ongoing case management. Rather than being expected to step straight into an ER environment without support, you’ll have experienced clinicians around you to discuss cases with, ask questions and learn from as your skills develop. The hospital’s 24/7 setup means there’s plenty of opportunity to gain experience with more involved medical and surgical presentations, while access to advanced diagnostics and ICU capabilities allows you to follow cases beyond the initial work-up. Client communication remains an important part of the role, particularly when helping owners understand diagnostic findings, treatment options and next steps during what can often be a stressful time.
Practice Details
The hospital operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week and provides 24/7 Emergency Care alongside General Practice, ICU, Orthopedic Surgery and advanced minimally invasive surgery. Equipment and clinical capabilities available include, but are not limited to, Digital Radiography, Ultrasound, CT, Endoscopy and Echocardiography, alongside comprehensive diagnostic, surgical and critical care facilities. More advanced services include Laparoscopic Surgery, Cruciate Ligament Repair, BOAS Surgery and PennHIP/OFA screenings, giving you exposure to a broad range of cases and the opportunity to develop within a particularly well-resourced clinical environment.
Team
You’ll be working within a sizeable and collaborative hospital team, with the opportunity to learn directly from experienced Emergency clinicians while working alongside General Practice veterinarians, veterinary technicians, assistants and dedicated support professionals. Mentorship is a central part of this opportunity, giving you people to bounce ideas off, work through cases with and turn to for guidance as your Emergency skills and confidence develop. The hospital also places a strong emphasis on continued learning and professional development, making this a particularly nice environment for someone who wants to take the next step clinically without being expected to figure everything out on their own.
Candidate Requirements
