Introduction
Our client is a hospital seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join its 24-hour specialty and emergency veterinary center in Middletown, Connecticut. The hospital delivers comprehensive primary, specialty, and emergency care and is hiring an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to practice advanced medicine within a collaborative, doctor-led environment.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position. The hospital operates as a 24-hour emergency facility. Primary care services are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, with specialty services offered by appointment.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Veterinary Surgeon will focus on advanced surgical care within a busy specialty and emergency setting. Clinical responsibilities include performing surgical procedures and working closely with emergency, internal medicine, neurology, oncology, diagnostic imaging, avian and exotics, and critical care teams. The role emphasizes high clinical standards, collaborative case management, and clear client communication. This position is suited to an experienced surgeon who values a medicine-first approach and thrives in a multidisciplinary hospital environment.

Practice Details
The hospital is a state-of-the-art 24-hour veterinary center offering primary, specialty, and emergency care. Facilities include advanced technology such as a high-field MRI, 64-slice CT scanner, telemetric monitoring systems, intensive care units, a mechanical ventilator, and an on-site reference laboratory with a clinical pathologist. Services offered include internal medicine, neurology and neurosurgery, oncology, surgery, diagnostic imaging, avian and exotic care, dentistry, preventive care, and critical care. The culture is doctor-led and medicine-focused, with a strong commitment to education through internships, residencies, and veterinary technology training partnerships.

Team
The wider veterinary group includes nearly 70 DVMs, with each hospital supported by a highly experienced and tenured support team. The working environment is collegial and collaborative, with strong technical, assistant, and client liaison support.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
