Job Description
Introduction
Our client is an emergency veterinary hospital seeking an Overnight Emergency Veterinarian to join its dedicated emergency team on a full-time or part-time basis. The hospital provides emergency and critical care and offers a diverse caseload of urgent, critical, medical, and surgical cases within a fast-paced clinical environment.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Overnight Emergency Veterinarian will focus exclusively on emergency medicine, managing a varied caseload of urgent, critical, surgical, and hospitalized patients. Cases may include trauma and wound management, toxicities, respiratory distress, urinary obstructions, gastrointestinal emergencies, emergency surgery candidates, complex referral cases, critical care, and end-of-life care. The role also involves communicating with clients during emergency and end-of-life situations. Veterinarians have clinical autonomy while working alongside an experienced emergency team, with opportunities for case discussion, mentorship, and continued professional development. Flexible full-time and part-time opportunities are available.
Practice Details
The hospital is open on weekdays from 6:00 PM to 8:00 AM, with weekend emergency coverage from Saturday at noon through Monday morning. The practice has advanced diagnostic capabilities including ultrasound, digital radiography, an in-house laboratory, and surgical facilities. Services include emergency care, diagnostics, surgery, transfers and referral care, end-of-life care, and pharmacy services. The hospital maintains established referral relationships with surrounding veterinary practices and provides a consistent overnight and weekend emergency caseload.
Team
The hospital has four DVMs and an experienced emergency support team. The environment is collaborative and encourages case discussion and mentorship while allowing veterinarians autonomy in their clinical decision-making.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
