Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a well-established emergency-only veterinary practice seeking an Emergency Veterinarian to join their team on either a full-time or part-time basis. Providing care for dogs and cats, the hospital is dedicated to delivering high-quality urgent medical and surgical care when regular clinics are closed, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The practice emphasises compassionate patient care, modern diagnostics and treatment plans, while working closely with referring veterinarians to support continuity of care.
Role Description and Responsibilities
As an Emergency Veterinarian, you will manage a small animal emergency and surgical caseload, with an average daily patient volume of 10–15 cases per doctor. You will have medical autonomy to practise exceptional medicine and surgery with the support of the hospital’s medical systems and team. The hospital is open to discussing scheduling preferences. They are primarily looking for an experienced veterinarian but could also consider a strong and motivated new graduate.
Practice Details
The hospital is open Monday to Thursday from 6:00 pm to 7:30 am. Weekend hours begin at 6:00 pm on Friday, with the hospital then remaining open 24 hours over the weekend. Services include emergency care for illnesses and injuries, diagnostic imaging, emergency surgery, and alternative medicine including acupuncture and supplements to support holistic care. The hospital is equipped with digital X-ray, ultrasound, in-house laboratory capabilities, a dental suite, and a surgical suite.
Team
The hospital currently has one doctor and strives to maintain a 3:1 technician-to-doctor ratio. The team provides a collaborative, fast-paced, and fun environment with broad clinical exposure.
