Our client is a hospital providing care for small animal patients and is seeking an Emergency Veterinarian to join their team in Asheville, North Carolina. This opportunity is available on either a full-time or part-time basis and is ideal for an experienced emergency clinician who values teamwork, collaboration, and exceptional patient care. The hospital offers a high-volume emergency caseload within a 24/7 environment and provides the resources, technology, and specialist support needed to deliver advanced veterinary medicine.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Emergency Veterinarian will manage a diverse emergency caseload, providing urgent and critical care to small animal patients while collaborating closely with colleagues, clients, and the referral community. Responsibilities include evaluating and stabilizing emergency patients, developing treatment plans, performing emergency procedures, utilizing advanced diagnostic tools, and communicating effectively with pet owners and referring veterinarians. The role offers the opportunity to work alongside specialists and advanced support teams to ensure the highest standard of patient care. This position is intended for experienced veterinarians.

Practice Details
The hospital is a 24/7 emergency facility serving more than 16,000 patients annually and providing advanced emergency and specialty veterinary care to Asheville, Buncombe County, and surrounding communities. The spacious facility features expanded treatment and triage areas, more than nine exam rooms, a dedicated ICU with a feline-friendly ward, an on-site laboratory, three advanced surgical suites, multiple radiology suites, CT, MRI, ultrasound, and digital X-ray capabilities. Additional equipment includes blood transfusion equipment and blood products, continuous electrocardiogram monitoring, incubators, thermally regulated oxygen cages, and dedicated isolation wards. Imaging studies are supported by radiologists, allowing seamless collaboration on complex cases. Specialty services available include ophthalmology and advanced surgical care, including soft tissue and orthopedic surgery. The hospital is committed to collaborative care, continuing education, caregiver wellbeing, and delivering exceptional outcomes for patients requiring emergency and specialty treatment. Emergency services are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The hospital is staffed by 8 DVMs and a great tenured support team. The culture emphasizes collaboration, communication, continuing education, and teamwork, with veterinarians working closely alongside experienced support staff and specialists to provide comprehensive emergency and specialty care.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
