Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a full-service small animal hospital seeking a Full-Time or Part-Time Associate Veterinarian to join its team. Caring for dogs and cats, the hospital provides a broad range of veterinary medicine spanning preventative care, diagnostics, surgery, advanced dentistry, hospitalization, intensive care, and integrative medicine. The position is open to both experienced veterinarians and new graduates.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Associate Veterinarian will be responsible for delivering high-quality medical, surgical, and preventative care while building strong relationships with clients through clear communication and education. Responsibilities include performing comprehensive physical examinations, diagnosing and treating illnesses and injuries, developing treatment plans, prescribing medications, interpreting diagnostic tests, and performing routine soft tissue surgeries and dentistry where applicable.
The veterinarian will also maintain accurate medical records, promote preventative healthcare, follow hospital protocols, and collaborate with the wider veterinary team to ensure a high standard of patient care while contributing to a positive, supportive, and team-oriented working environment.

Practice Details
The hospital is open Monday through Saturday from 8:00am to 6:00pm and is closed on Sundays.
The facility is equipped with modern veterinary technology, including digital radiography, dental radiography, ultrasound, laser equipment, an in-house laboratory, endoscopy, and a Tono-Pen for measuring intraocular pressure. Hands-free radiology safety standards are also in place. An in-office surgical suite supports general anesthesia and surgical procedures, while intensive-care capabilities are available for critically ill patients requiring increased nursing and veterinary oversight.
This full-service small animal facility also provides hospitalization, an in-house pharmacy, and dedicated dental and diagnostic imaging capabilities. Patients requiring hospitalization have individual cages or kennels and are monitored by the veterinary and technical team throughout their stay.
Primary care encompasses wellness examinations, preventative medicine, senior and geriatric medicine, health certificates, dentistry, dental X-rays, laboratory testing, internal medicine, pain management, radiology, hospitalization, intensive care, and pharmacy services.
Surgical services include spays and neuters, mass removal and biopsy, laceration and wound repair, abscess treatment, exploratory surgery, gastrointestinal foreign-body removal, enucleation, cystotomy, skin biopsy, and other general and soft-tissue procedures.
Advanced diagnostic capabilities include digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, dermatology, and tonometry. Ultrasound can be used to examine abdominal and reproductive organs, the eyes, and the heart. Endoscopy provides additional capabilities for minimally invasive investigation and procedures.
Dentistry extends beyond routine dental cleaning and extractions, with services including root canals, root planning, crown placement, gingival surgery, and orthodontics. The hospital also provides holistic medicine, herbal medicine, Chinese herbal medicine, and acupuncture, while its pain-management services reference chiropractic care as an option offered by some veterinarians. Radioactive iodine I-131 treatment for feline hyperthyroidism is also available.
The breadth of services provides exposure to general practice, surgery, advanced dentistry, ultrasound, endoscopy, dermatology, hospitalized and ICU patients, and integrative medicine within a GP environment. Serving Big Lake, Wasilla, Palmer, Willow, and surrounding communities, the hospital describes its approach as combining conventional veterinary medicine with an interest in natural approaches to pet healthcare.

Team
The hospital has a three-DVM team supported by eight Veterinary Assistants and one Technician Assistant. The wider support structure also includes licensed technicians, veterinary assistants, and technician assistants.
Clinical support responsibilities include anesthesia induction and maintenance under veterinarian supervision, dental hygiene, radiology, phlebotomy, laboratory processing, surgical preparation, operating-room assistance, patient treatments and monitoring, history collection, and client education.
