Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a practice hiring an Associate Veterinarian to join their team, providing care for small animal patients. The clinic has grown significantly over the past five years from a small neighborhood clinic into a thriving practice that now provides comprehensive veterinary care seven days a week. Located directly across from John Muir Medical Center, the hospital is closely connected to the local healthcare community and serves clients throughout Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Concord, Lafayette, Orinda, and Clayton. The practice takes pride in a “say yes” mentality—doing everything possible to care for patients, support clients, and invest in their team whenever possible.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open Monday–Sunday from 9:00am to 7:30pm. The role offers both part-time and full-time options, with a typical schedule of four days per week working 10-hour shifts, including rotating weekends.

Role Description and Responsibilities
An Associate Veterinarian is responsible for providing high-quality medical, surgical, and preventive care to a varied caseload of patients. They conduct thorough examinations, diagnose and treat illnesses, interpret diagnostic tests, and develop appropriate treatment plans. Responsibilities include performing routine surgical procedures, delivering preventive care and vaccinations, managing medical cases, prescribing medications, and maintaining accurate medical records in line with regulatory standards. The role also involves communicating clearly and compassionately with clients, collaborating with the clinical team to ensure efficient patient care, and participating in ongoing professional development to maintain clinical excellence. The role is open to both experienced veterinarians and new graduates.

Practice Details
The hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art in-house diagnostic equipment, ranging from digital X-ray and in-house laboratory services to abdominal ultrasound and echocardiogram, allowing the team to perform comprehensive in-house diagnostics. The practice provides full-service care including wellness and preventative care, advanced diagnostics, routine and advanced soft-tissue and orthopedic surgery, dentistry, and emergency and urgent care, enabling high-quality and continuous medicine to be delivered in-house. The culture is centered around compassionate care, high-quality medicine, and exceptional communication, with a strong focus on collaboration, individualized patient care, and maintaining a supportive, enjoyable workplace environment.
The hospital offers a wide range of services including dental care, domestic and international health certificates, surgery, pet spay and neuter procedures, pet vaccinations, in-house diagnostics, emergency and urgent care, orthopedics, ultrasound, and echocardiograms.

Team
The practice is an eight-doctor team supported by two RVTs and seven veterinary assistants, working within a collaborative and supportive environment that emphasizes teamwork and communication to deliver high-quality patient care.
