Job Description

Introduction
This established small animal hospital in Tumwater, Washington is seeking a full-time Associate Veterinarian to join its four-doctor team. The practice provides comprehensive care for dogs and cats, ranging from preventative medicine and routine healthcare through to advanced surgical procedures. The hospital places a strong emphasis on the human-animal bond, collaborative medicine and maintaining longstanding relationships with local pet owners.

Working Hours / Rota
The position is full-time and based entirely within the hospital. Scheduling may include longer shifts, Saturdays, evenings and holidays depending on rota requirements, with the wider team sharing responsibility for maintaining consistent patient care and hospital coverage.

Role Description and Responsibilities
As an Associate Veterinarian, you’ll provide comprehensive small animal medicine including preventative care, diagnostics, dentistry, anaesthesia, surgery and ongoing medical case management. You’ll manage your own caseload while collaborating with the Principal Doctor, Practice Manager and wider clinical team, with an emphasis on clear client communication and high medical standards. The position also provides opportunities to support the development of the wider team through clinical training and guidance, with veterinarians earlier in their careers given time to develop these responsibilities as their experience grows.

Practice Details
The hospital is a modern, well-established small animal practice with four veterinarians and facilities designed to support both routine and more advanced medical and surgical care. The team is actively involved within the local community, including working alongside nonprofit animal rescue organisations and maintaining a close relationship with the local humane society. As part of the WellHaven network, the practice also has access to wider clinical and operational resources while maintaining its own hospital environment and community relationships.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
