Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a long-standing small animal hospital seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join their collaborative two-doctor team in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. With over 50 years of trusted service to the community, this practice is known for delivering tailored, individualized medicine and fostering a strong culture of mentorship and continuous learning. They are open to full-time or part-time veterinarians who are passionate about practicing modern, personalized veterinary care for companion animals.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is Monday to Saturday with a half day Saturday. Flexible scheduling is available, and appointment lengths are designed by the doctor, allowing for autonomy in structuring the workday to support thorough, high-quality care.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Associate Veterinarian will provide personalized wellness, diagnostic, and surgical care to companion animals. Responsibilities include performing routine examinations, vaccinations, medical workups, radiology and ultrasound diagnostics, soft tissue surgery including spay and neuter procedures, dental cleanings and treatment, pain management, hospitalization, and emergency and critical care cases as needed. The role includes participation in weekly case rounds and surgical mentorship with the Medical Director, offering a collaborative approach to case review and clinical development. Both new graduates and experienced veterinarians are encouraged to apply, with strong support and mentorship available.

Practice Details
This is a well-established small animal hospital equipped with Cornerstone EMR, digital radiography, digital dental radiography, ultrasound, an in-house IDEXX laboratory with Sedivue, therapeutic laser therapy, in-house pharmacy services, and advanced diagnostic capabilities including blood panels, microscopy, and cytology. Services include wellness and preventative care, vaccinations, medical and surgical services, pet dental care, radiology, pain management, hospitalization, emergency and critical care, euthanasia and cremation services, and management of conditions such as diabetes, eye infections, vomiting, and diarrhea. Full abdominal ultrasound services are available, with access to a traveling ultrasonographer and cardiologist for echocardiograms. The culture is learning-driven and collaborative, with weekly mentorship and a strong emphasis on individualized patient care.

The hospital operates as a two-DVM practice with a collaborative and feedback-driven team environment. Weekly case rounds and surgical mentorship with the Medical Director foster shared learning and professional growth within a supportive culture.

Candidate Requirements 

  • Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
  • Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
  • Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
