Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a well-established veterinary practice seeking a third veterinarian to join their small animal team. The clinic primarily treats dogs and cats but is open to expanding services based on the veterinarian’s interests, including some limited equine wellness care. This is a great opportunity to join a forward-thinking, supportive environment with a strong focus on compassionate care and high medical standards.
Working Hours / Rota
The standard schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The clinic is closed on weekends and public holidays, with no on-call or emergency duties. Current scheduling is four 10-hour shifts per week, and the day off is flexible.
Role Description and Responsibilities
This position includes a mix of medical appointments, diagnostics, and, if desired, surgical cases. All appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes to allow for thorough and low-stress care. While surgical duties are available, the practice is open to candidates who prefer a non-surgical role. There is strong support for veterinarians to pursue areas of interest, including exotic or equine preventative care, internal medicine, or pain management. The clinic prioritizes gentle, low-stress techniques—particularly for feline patients—and maintains a fear-free approach. Continuing education and professional development are actively supported.
Practice Details and Team
This small animal practice offers modern diagnostics and a high standard of care. The practice is in the process of pursuing AAHA accreditation and emphasizes pain management and feline-friendly care. The clinic is well-equipped with digital radiography, full IDEXX in-house lab, ultrasound, and a paperless electronic system. The culture is collaborative and focused on medical advancement, with an openness to innovation and new approaches to treatment.
Team Size
The current team includes two veterinarians, with this hire to become the third. The support staff fosters a collaborative environment with a strong mentoring ethos. The practice is independently owned and prioritizes both patient care and staff wellbeing.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is compassionate, collaborative, and interested in practicing progressive medicine. Experience is preferred, but new graduates are welcome to apply and will receive mentorship. A veterinarian with interests in internal medicine, feline care, or unique species is encouraged to apply.
Every candidate MUST be licensed to work in the state they are applying to work in or be in process of being licensed. They must hold the necessary degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA).
