Introduction
Our client is a full-service veterinary hospital seeking a full-time Hospital Veterinarian to join their team in Shorewood, Illinois. The hospital provides comprehensive care for dogs and cats with a focus on high-quality medicine, advanced equipment, and a collaborative clinical environment.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open Monday from 8:00am to 6:00pm, Tuesday from 8:00am to 6:00pm, Thursday from 8:00am to 6:00pm, Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm, and Saturday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. The hospital is closed on Wednesdays and Sundays. This is a full-time position.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Hospital Veterinarian will provide comprehensive patient care including physical examinations, diagnosis and treatment of disease, and preventive medicine tailored to each patient’s signalment, lifestyle, and environment. The role follows a problem-based medical approach, developing complete problem lists, differential diagnoses, diagnostic plans, and appropriate treatments based on interpretation of results. Responsibilities include thorough medical record documentation, performing routine and complex surgical procedures such as spays, neuters, abdominal exploratory surgeries, and mass removals, as well as routine and complex dental procedures including full dental examinations, evaluation of dental radiographs, and simple and complex extractions. The veterinarian will develop treatment plans for hospitalized patients, participate in doctor rounds at the beginning and end of shifts, and communicate effectively with referral hospitals to ensure continuity of care.

Practice Details
This full-service hospital is equipped with ultrasound in every hospital, heated hydraulic surgery tables, digital diagnostic radiography, and a supportive paraprofessional team encouraged to expand their expertise in dentistry and nutrition. Services include routine wellness care, vaccinations, flea, tick and heartworm prevention, illness and injury treatment, imaging, surgery, dentistry, dental cleanings and extractions, dental X-rays, mass removal and biopsy, foreign body removal, spay and neuter procedures, and comprehensive preventive care. The hospital operates within a structured clinical framework with supportive medical leadership and standardized operating procedures designed to maintain consistent, high standards of patient care.

Team
The Hospital Veterinarian works alongside a paraprofessional team within the hospital and under the clinical guidance of a Hospital Medical Leader or Area Medical Director. While there are no direct supervisory responsibilities, the role functions as a clinical leader within the hospital, contributing to a cohesive, collaborative team environment focused on patient wellbeing and client satisfaction.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
