Job Description

Introduction
This family-owned small animal hospital in Scottsdale, Arizona is seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join its established team of three doctors, becoming the fourth member of the veterinary team. Serving the local community since 2014, the hospital offers a comprehensive range of general practice and urgent care services, with opportunities to work with police K9 units. The hospital primarily treats cats and dogs, with exotic animal medicine available as an option for veterinarians who wish to pursue it, but there is absolutely no expectation to treat exotics. With an emphasis on clinical autonomy, advanced diagnostic capabilities and maintaining a genuinely supportive working environment, this is an excellent opportunity for a veterinarian looking to practise high-quality medicine without corporate restrictions.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital offers a structured two-week rotating schedule, with veterinarians working four weekdays during one week, followed by three weekdays and a Saturday the next. Weekday appointments generally run between 7:30am and 5:30pm, with Saturday appointments scheduled from 8:00am to 1:00pm. There are no overnight or on-call requirements. Doctors typically rotate between consultation and surgical responsibilities, with dedicated surgical time incorporated into their schedules and additional appointment availability when procedures are not booked. Routine wellness and diagnostic appointments are generally allocated 30 minutes, while more extensive consultations and appointments involving multiple pets receive up to 60 minutes.

Role Description and Responsibilities
As an Associate Veterinarian, you’ll provide comprehensive veterinary care primarily for cats and dogs, managing cases across general practice, preventative medicine, diagnostics, surgery, dentistry and urgent care. You’ll have the flexibility to focus on general practice or incorporate urgent care into your caseload, conducting consultations, developing treatment plans, performing surgical procedures and providing ongoing medical care. Veterinarians who enjoy working exclusively with cats and dogs are fully supported, while those with an interest in exotic species can also incorporate birds, reptiles and pocket pets into their clinical work if desired. The hospital also works closely with police K9 units across Arizona, offering additional variety within its caseload. You’ll benefit from clinical autonomy, experienced colleagues and dedicated technician support, with individualised mentorship available for recent graduates.

Practice Details
The hospital operates across two neighbouring buildings, comprising a dedicated diagnostic centre and wellness centre, with eight examination rooms, two surgical suites, three dental stations, spacious treatment areas and separate patient wards. Its extensive equipment includes three high-powered ultrasound machines, digital radiography, digital dental radiography, endoscopy, advanced dental equipment, cold laser therapy and comprehensive in-house laboratory capabilities. The hospital also uses electronic medical records with integrated AI note-taking technology and additional patient monitoring equipment. Veterinarians benefit from approximately three technicians per doctor, including dedicated individual support and additional assistance for surgery. The practice follows Fear Free handling principles and prioritises keeping diagnostic and treatment procedures in-house whenever its equipment and clinical expertise allow. With an established client base, a collaborative three-doctor team and a strong commitment to professional independence, the hospital provides an environment where veterinarians can develop their clinical skills and contribute to the continued growth of a privately owned practice.
