Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a hospital seeking a Lead Veterinarian to join their established, multi-doctor general practice in South Sarasota, Florida. This full-service facility treats small animals and exotic pets and is looking for a medical leader to guide the clinical team, foster a collaborative environment, and support the ongoing success of the practice. The role is open to both experienced veterinarians and those earlier in their careers who are motivated to grow into a leadership position.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open Monday from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm, Tuesday and Thursday from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, Wednesday and Friday from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm, and Saturday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. It is closed on Sundays. No after-hours coverage is required.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Lead Veterinarian will take on all clinical duties associated with a general practice veterinarian, including preventative care, internal medicine, surgery, dentistry, and diagnostics, while also serving as the medical leader of the hospital. This position includes mentoring team members, supporting practice operations, and upholding a high standard of patient care. It is well-suited to those who enjoy working in a team-focused environment with a strong interest in leadership development.

Practice Details
The hospital is equipped with species-specific exam rooms and advanced diagnostic tools such as digital radiography, ultrasound, and echocardiography. The fully equipped surgery suite includes isoflurane gas anesthesia machines, IV pumps, cardiac and pulse oximetry monitoring, suction, electrocautery, and warm water heating pads. Electronic medical records are managed through AVImark. The clinic culture promotes the use of modern technology and compassionate care to enhance patient outcomes.

Team
The current team includes three DVMs and a very well-supported, tenured group of support staff. The practice emphasizes collaboration and mentorship, making it an ideal setting for those looking to step into or further grow in a leadership role within a supportive and experienced team.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
