Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a hospital specializing in small animal care, currently seeking a Surgery Only Associate Veterinarian to join their team. This position is designed for a veterinarian with surgical experience, working closely with the hospital’s emergency doctors to provide focused surgical care for cats and dogs.
Working Hours / Rota
The work schedule for this role is 3–4 days per week. The hospital operates 24 hours on Monday, Saturday, and Sunday; from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM on Tuesday through Thursday; and from 5:30 PM to 12:00 AM on Friday. Specific doctor hours will fall within these operating hours, offering a degree of scheduling flexibility across weekdays, and will be daytime hours only.
Role Description and Responsibilities
This position involves working as a surgery-only associate veterinarian alongside a team of emergency doctors. The role is exclusively surgical and is intended for candidates with prior experience. It offers the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary environment, supported by established internal medicine and surgery departments.
Practice Details
The hospital features advanced diagnostic and treatment equipment including in-house CBC/chem and blood gas analyzers, coagulation profiles, bile acids, cortisol testing, Heska blood typing, Scopio digital slide reader, and cytospin. Additional equipment includes a Vimago CT, force triad vessel fusion unit, veterinary PRP/stem cell centrifuge, hyperbaric oxygen chamber, Synder oxygen cages, and a therapeutic laser.
Team
The hospital is staffed by a multi-doctor team across several specialties. The broader support team includes 21 technicians, 5 client service representatives, a pharmacy manager, and a practice manager. The culture encourages continuous learning and collaboration among doctors, fostering a growth-oriented clinical environment.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
