Introduction
An established companion animal and exotic veterinary hospital in Santee, South Carolina is seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join its clinical team. The hospital has a longstanding presence within the local community, providing comprehensive veterinary services for dogs, cats and selected exotic species, with a varied caseload encompassing General Practice, Internal Medicine, Dentistry, Surgery and Preventive Medicine. The practice offers additional opportunities in Exotic Animal Medicine, Urgent Care and regenerative therapies, providing scope to develop individual clinical interests within an established veterinary environment. The hospital has been under its current ownership since 2002 and maintains a strong emphasis on high medical standards, continuity of care and longstanding client relationships. The position offers clinical autonomy alongside experienced veterinary colleagues and dedicated support personnel, with full-time, part-time and relief opportunities available. Both experienced veterinarians and recent graduates are encouraged to apply, with structured mentorship, continuing education resources, flexible scheduling and a weekday-only working pattern available.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Associate Veterinarian will undertake the full scope of GP responsibilities, managing a varied companion animal caseload encompassing Preventive Medicine, Internal Medicine, Dentistry, Surgery and ongoing medical management. The position offers opportunities to work with selected exotic species, including small mammals and reptiles, according to individual clinical experience and interests. The successful veterinarian will exercise independent clinical judgement while collaborating with experienced colleagues on diagnostic investigation, treatment planning and more complex medical and surgical cases. Opportunities are available to develop expertise in Soft Tissue Surgery, Exotic Animal Medicine and additional therapeutic services offered by the hospital. Recent graduates will have access to structured mentorship through an established veterinary mentor network, while experienced practitioners will benefit from medical autonomy and opportunities for continued clinical development. The role is structured around a flexible weekday schedule, with no weekend working requirements.

Practice Details
The hospital provides a comprehensive range of General Practice and Exotic Animal veterinary services, including Preventive Medicine, Internal Medicine, Dentistry, Soft Tissue Surgery, Senior Pet Care, Paediatric Wellness, Urgent Care during normal operating hours, vaccinations, parasite management, microchipping, nutritional counselling and diagnostic testing. In addition to dogs and cats, the practice treats rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, mice, rats, ferrets and non-venomous reptiles. Surgical capabilities include routine spaying and neutering alongside more complex Soft Tissue procedures, supported by a dedicated surgical suite, anaesthetic monitoring equipment and a heated surgical and recovery area. Diagnostic facilities include Radiography, Ultrasound and an In-House Laboratory providing haematology, urinalysis and faecal testing. Additional clinical services include Therapeutic Laser Treatment and Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy for musculoskeletal conditions, osteoarthritis and tissue recovery. The hospital also provides an Online Pharmacy and accepts walk-in appointments. The practice is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Team
The hospital operates as an established veterinary practice, with the job advert identifying two veterinarians, a Licensed Veterinary Technician and dedicated support personnel. The wider veterinary team brings experience across companion animal medicine, surgery, pathology and the treatment of exotic species, with additional support available through an established veterinary mentor network. The incoming Associate Veterinarian will join a collaborative clinical environment that encourages shared case discussions, professional development and independent clinical decision-making, with opportunities to contribute to the continued development of the practice.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
