Job Description

Introduction
Serving generations of pet owners across Santa Rosa and Sonoma County since 1967, this full-service veterinary hospital is looking to welcome a full-time Associate Veterinarian to its team. Providing care for dogs, cats, birds and exotic pets, the practice offers plenty of variety across everyday General Practice medicine alongside more involved medical and surgical cases. There’s a strong focus on continuity of care and building genuine relationships with clients, making this a nice opportunity for someone who enjoys becoming part of the community they practice within.

Role Description and Responsibilities
This role encompasses the full scope of General Practice responsibilities, giving you the opportunity to take ownership of a varied caseload across preventive medicine, diagnostics, treatment planning, dentistry and surgery. You’ll work alongside experienced veterinarians, technicians and support staff, with a real emphasis on communicating well with clients and building lasting relationships with the people who trust the hospital with their pets. The hospital’s broader diagnostic and surgical capabilities also give you plenty of scope to work through more involved cases in-house, while the team-focused environment means there are people around to bounce ideas off when another perspective would be useful. You’ll also work closely with the Hospital Manager and wider clinical leadership while maintaining the autonomy to develop your own approach to patient care.

Practice Details
The hospital provides a full scope of GP services alongside daytime Emergency and Urgent Care, Internal Medicine, Cancer Care and Cold Laser Therapy, with comprehensive dentistry and a particularly broad surgical offering also available. Equipment and clinical capabilities available include, but are not limited to, Digital Radiography, Digital Dental Radiography, an In-House Laboratory and Pharmacy, Cold Laser Therapy and electronic anesthetic monitoring equipment, while Ultrasound is available through a mobile ultrasonographer. The hospital is also one of relatively few practices in the area able to provide PennHIP examinations and certification submissions, while surgical capabilities extend to Soft Tissue Surgery, Ocular Surgery and Tibial Tuberosity Advancement. The hospital is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Team
You’ll be joining an experienced veterinary, technician and support team within a fast-paced and collaborative hospital that places a lot of value on continuity of care. There’s a real focus on creating a team with familiar faces that clients get to know and trust, while giving everyone within the hospital an important part to play in patient care. The support team works closely with the veterinarians across diagnostics, surgery, nursing and day-to-day case management, giving you plenty of clinical support around you while still having the independence to take ownership of your own patients and build lasting relationships with their owners.
