Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a veterinary hospital hiring for an Associate Veterinarian. The practice primarily treats cats and dogs, with a focus on urgent care and interesting surgery cases, providing a varied and engaging caseload.
Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open six days a week. The position offers flexible scheduling with three 12-hour shifts and is available on a full-time or part-time basis. There are no Sunday hours, although the practice plans to extend hours in the future. There is a rotating Saturday on-call requirement if the Saturday DVM is unavailable.
Role Description and Responsibilities
An Associate Veterinarian is responsible for providing high-quality medical, surgical, and preventive care to a varied caseload of patients. They conduct thorough examinations, diagnose and treat illnesses, interpret diagnostic tests, and develop appropriate treatment plans. Responsibilities include performing routine surgical procedures, delivering preventive care and vaccinations, managing medical cases, prescribing medications, and maintaining accurate medical records in line with regulatory standards. The role also involves communicating clearly and compassionately with clients, collaborating with the clinical team to ensure efficient patient care, and participating in ongoing professional development to maintain clinical excellence. The position is open to both experienced veterinarians and new graduates.
Practice Details
The practice is a Fear-Free Practice and features eight exam rooms, a treatment area, and dedicated dental and surgery suites, with computers in every exam room to support streamlined patient care. Equipment includes an in-house laboratory for chemistries, electrolytes, and CBC testing with access to Antech for additional diagnostics, in-house ultrasound, digital radiographs, and digital dental radiographs. Digital radiographs can be sent to board-certified radiologists for expert interpretation. Additional equipment and capabilities include Cardell monitors, pulse oximetry, blood pressure monitoring, advanced surgical care capabilities, hands-free radiology, and a full pharmacy. The facility also includes a full boarding facility, grooming salon, and electronic medical records system. Services offered include advanced care such as advanced dental care, bone and joint surgery, cardiology, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, digital radiology, echocardiography, EKG, endoscopy, OFA X-ray, oncology, ophthalmology, orthopedic surgery, PennHip evaluations, reproductive services, soft tissue surgery, tonopen diagnostics, and ultrasound. Alternative medicine services including acupuncture are also offered.
Team
The team consists of five DVMs supported by a strong and dedicated support staff team, creating a collaborative environment that supports efficient patient care and teamwork across the hospital.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
