Job Description

Introduction
A well-established mixed-animal practice in St. Maries, Idaho is looking to hire an Associate Veterinarian. The position is primarily focused on small animal medicine, with the option to work with large animals and get involved with farm calls for someone who enjoys that side of veterinary medicine. The practice has built a loyal, multi-generational client base within the local community, making this a nice opportunity for someone who enjoys developing genuine relationships with their clients while still having plenty of variety within their caseload.

Role Description and Responsibilities
This role encompasses the full scope of General Practice responsibilities, with a balanced mix of medical and surgical cases and a particular need for someone comfortable performing routine soft tissue surgery. You’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of your cases across diagnostics, treatment planning and ongoing patient care, while working alongside an experienced team when another perspective would be useful. Although the role is predominantly small animal focused, large-animal cases and farm calls can be incorporated into your working week if that’s something you’re interested in, without being an expectation of the position. There are no after-hours or weekend emergency responsibilities. The practice is open to both experienced veterinarians and newer graduates, although newer graduates should already have a solid surgical foundation, with mentorship available as they continue developing their clinical skills.

Practice Details
The practice provides a full scope of small and large animal GP services, with its caseload covering medical, surgical and preventative care. Equipment and clinical capabilities available include, but are not limited to, Digital Radiography, Ultrasound, In-House Diagnostics and surgical facilities, giving the team the resources to work through a good variety of cases within the practice. The hospital is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Wednesday is open from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM for limited services, including technician appointments, product purchases and administrative services, with full veterinary services available on alternating Wednesdays. The practice is closed on weekends and holidays.

Team
You’ll currently be joining a 2-DVM team, working alongside an established group of Veterinary Technicians and client service professionals, several of whom have been with the practice for many years. It’s a collaborative environment where sharing knowledge and helping each other out is very much part of the day-to-day culture, while still giving you the freedom to take ownership of your own patients. With experienced doctors and long-standing support team members around you, there’s plenty of opportunity to bounce ideas off colleagues, build your skills and settle into the practice without feeling like you’re working through everything on your own.

Candidate Requirements

  • Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
  • Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
  • Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
