Job Description
Introduction
A full-service small animal hospital in Southport, North Carolina is seeking a part-time Veterinarian to join its established two-doctor team. The position provides a consistent three-day working week, with a Monday, Wednesday and Friday schedule and no weekend requirements. The hospital provides comprehensive medical, surgical, dental and diagnostic care for dogs and cats, with an emphasis on continuity of care, client relationships and collaborative case management.
Role Description and Responsibilities
This role encompasses the full scope of General Practice responsibilities, including wellness and sick appointments, diagnostic investigation, treatment planning, dentistry and surgery. The successful experienced veterinarian will be responsible for delivering high-quality medical care, maintaining effective client communication and working collaboratively with the wider veterinary and technical team. The hospital places an emphasis on appropriate appointment pacing, continuity of care and collaborative case discussion, with reliable technical support available throughout the working day. The position follows a consistent Monday, Wednesday and Friday schedule, providing predictable working hours without weekend commitments.
Practice Details
The hospital provides a full scope of GP services, including preventive medicine, diagnostics, comprehensive dentistry, Soft Tissue Surgery, laboratory testing and same-day Urgent Care appointments. Equipment and clinical capabilities available include, but are not limited to, Digital Radiography, Ultrasound, IDEXX In-House Diagnostics and Therapy Laser, alongside a dedicated Surgical Suite, Dental Suite and In-House Pharmacy. The hospital uses Pulse EMR for medical records and provides comprehensive in-house laboratory testing, including CBCs, chemistry panels and urinalysis. Office hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday currently closed.
Team
The hospital operates as an established two-doctor General Practice, supported by an experienced veterinary support team. Veterinary Assistants are utilized across clinical responsibilities including patient examinations, laboratory work, diagnostic imaging and anesthesia support, with ongoing technical development encouraged within the team. The position is structured around collaborative case management and consistent clinical support, while allowing the incoming veterinarian to maintain responsibility for their own patients and establish long-term client relationships.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
