Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a privately owned hospital providing mixed animal veterinary care and is looking to hire a Mixed Animal Veterinarian on either a full-time or part-time basis. The caseload is approximately 50% large animal and 50% small animal, with occasional exotic cases. The hospital can accommodate a small animal-only veterinarian but not a large animal-only veterinarian, and additional equine experience would be a great addition. The hospital is proudly privately owned.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Mixed Animal Veterinarian will be responsible for the full scope of general practice responsibilities. The position is open to both experienced veterinarians and new graduates, with the hospital very experienced in mentoring new graduates. Full-time doctors work four and a half days one week, including half a Saturday, followed by four weekdays the next week. Part-time doctors would need to work a minimum of three days. After-hours calls are split every third night and every third weekend, with the doctor receiving the associated fee as part of their quarterly bonus.

Practice Details
The hospital provides a full scope of general practice services, including wellness, preventative care, internal medicine, soft-tissue surgery, and dentistry. Additional services include reproduction, particularly for French Bulldogs, FHOs, and CCL repair. Typical appointment lengths are 15 minutes for vaccines and 30 minutes for sick visits. The hospital could accommodate a doctor who does not want to perform surgery. Equipment includes CBC, a thyroid machine, digital X-ray, ultrasound, in-house Heska laboratory equipment, Cornerstone EMR, and a tilt chute. The hospital was recently remodelled in 2020 and has three exam rooms, an X-ray room, a recovery room, two surgical suites, a hydraulic chute, calf cradles, and calf hospital pens.

Team
The team includes two DVMs, with one technician per doctor, a floating technician, and additional support staff.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
