Our client is a well-established small animal hospital seeking a full-time Associate Veterinarian to join their collaborative team in Rockford, Illinois. Serving the community since 1986, this practice provides care for dogs, cats, and a diverse range of exotic pets. The hospital is known for its consistency, teamwork, and long-term client relationships, creating an environment where veterinarians can practice thoughtful, thorough medicine while building meaningful connections with clients.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm and Saturday from 8:00am to 12:00pm, with Sundays closed. This is a full-time position with a focus on predictable scheduling and work-life balance.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Associate Veterinarian will examine animals to assess their health, diagnose conditions, and develop treatment plans. Responsibilities include performing surgery, providing dental care, conducting wellness exams, testing for and vaccinating against diseases, operating diagnostic equipment such as x-ray machines and ultrasound, prescribing medications, and advising owners on general care and medical conditions. The role supports flexibility within general practice, including opportunities to pursue interests in surgery and dentistry. New graduates are welcome and will receive mentorship and case guidance, while experienced veterinarians will enjoy autonomy and a consistent workflow within a collaborative team environment.

Practice Details
This full-service hospital offers wellness care, dental care, surgical services, diagnostic imaging, laboratory testing, pharmacy services, end-of-life care, microchipping, and nutrition support. The facility is equipped with ultrasound, digital dental radiography, a surgical laser, a modern surgical suite, advanced in-house laboratory capabilities, radiographs, and medical imaging technology designed to provide detailed, noninvasive diagnostic insight. The practice also provides comprehensive exotic pet care, including wellness exams, advanced diagnostics, specialized treatments, surgical care, dietary counseling, habitat guidance, and emergency and critical care for species such as birds, small mammals, reptiles, and other exotic pets. The culture emphasizes reasonable appointment pacing, collaborative case discussions, reliable technical support, and continuity of care within a calm, team-focused environment.

The hospital is supported by 3 DVMs and an experienced support staff, fostering a collaborative, mentorship-driven culture built on teamwork, communication, and long-term relationships with clients and their pets.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
