Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a hospital seeking a full-time Medical Director to lead their AAHA-accredited small animal practice. This hospital cares for canine and feline patients and is looking for a veterinary leader to guide clinical standards, support team development, and shape the hospital’s continued growth within a collaborative and community-focused environment.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital operates Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with plans to expand to include Fridays and Saturdays as the team grows. This is a full-time position typically structured as a four-day workweek, with a required Friday shift once implemented and rotating Saturday coverage. There are no evening or Sunday requirements, supporting a strong work-life balance.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The role combines clinical responsibilities with leadership duties, overseeing daily medical operations while mentoring and supporting the veterinary team. The caseload includes a mix of wellness and illness cases for dogs and cats, with time divided between appointments and surgery days. Clinical responsibilities include general medicine, dentistry, diagnostics, and soft tissue surgery. As Medical Director, the successful candidate will help drive medical excellence, support team growth, and contribute to ongoing improvements in patient care and hospital performance.

Practice Details
The hospital is AAHA-accredited and has been established in the community for over 50 years. The facility includes digital radiology, in-house CBC and chemistry analyzers, ultrasound, a therapy laser, and a spacious surgical suite, along with four exam rooms, an in-house pharmacy, an isolation ward, and a welcoming lobby. The team follows Fear Free practices and utilizes hands-free radiology to prioritize patient comfort and safety. Services include preventive care, geriatric medicine, dental care with digital dental radiography, general and orthopedic surgery, diagnostics, pain management, and wellness programs, supported by a collaborative environment and access to professional development resources.

Team
The hospital is currently staffed by 1 full-time DVM, with plans to grow to 2–3 doctors, alongside a supportive and collaborative team. The environment is mentorship-focused and team-oriented, with a strong emphasis on communication, professional development, and delivering high-quality care to the community.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
