Job Description

Introduction
This independently owned small animal hospital in Polson, Montana is seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join its team. Established in 2006 and currently led by one owner veterinarian, the practice has built its approach around providing a high standard of medicine and giving every patient the time and attention they deserve. The hospital is open to both experienced veterinarians and new graduates, with flexibility for an incoming doctor to develop or introduce additional clinical interests.

Working Hours / Rota
Full-time veterinarians work four 10-hour shifts per week, while part-time can be structured around two 10-hour shifts per week. The hospital is closed at weekends, with no regular Saturday or Sunday working. A dedicated lunch period is scheduled every day and can be up to two hours, helping protect time away from appointments during the working day. Appointment lengths are flexible depending on the patient and case rather than following a rigid schedule, and dedicated mornings are reserved during the week for surgical procedures.

Role Description and Responsibilities
As an Associate Veterinarian, you’ll provide comprehensive medical and surgical care for small animal patients, with an emphasis on thorough, individualised medicine and quality of care. The role encompasses preventative healthcare, diagnostics, dentistry, surgery and ongoing case management, with appointment lengths adapted to give each patient the time they need. A referral surgeon is available for orthopedic procedures, while the practice is open to supporting additional interests that an incoming veterinarian may wish to bring or develop. New graduates can benefit from working directly alongside an experienced owner veterinarian, while experienced doctors will have the opportunity to practise with clinical autonomy.

Practice Details
The hospital has three exam rooms, a dedicated comfort room for euthanasia and a fully equipped surgical suite, alongside a large, open waiting area that allows patients to be appropriately separated. Clinical equipment includes digital radiography, digital dental radiography, ultrasound, cold laser therapy, a surgical laser and in-house laboratory capabilities, with a fully paperless medical records system. The practice has a stable team of employees and has served the Polson community since 2006, with a culture centred around delivering a level and quality of veterinary medicine that the team can be proud of.
