Job Description

Introduction
An AAHA-accredited small animal hospital that has been caring for the Pleasant Grove, Utah community and surrounding areas for more than 40 years is looking to hire a full-time Associate Veterinarian. Providing care for dogs and cats, the hospital has a really broad General Practice offering with some particularly strong surgical and diagnostic capabilities, giving its veterinarians the opportunity to manage plenty of cases beyond straightforward everyday GP work while still keeping the feel of an established community practice.

Role Description and Responsibilities
This role encompasses the full scope of General Practice responsibilities, giving you the opportunity to take ownership of a varied mix of wellness and sick-patient cases while staying closely involved throughout diagnosis, treatment planning and ongoing case management. There’s plenty of scope to get involved with medicine, dentistry and surgery, with the hospital’s more advanced surgical capabilities making this particularly interesting for someone who enjoys developing that side of their caseload. You’ll have an experienced group of veterinarians around you to bounce ideas off when needed, while still having the independence to use your own clinical judgement and manage your patients in the way you feel is appropriate. The position is full-time and structured around four 10-hour shifts, giving you a little more time away from the hospital during the week.

Practice Details
The hospital is AAHA accredited and provides a full scope of GP services alongside Orthopedic Surgery, Laparoscopic Surgery, Laser Surgery, Cold Laser Therapy and advanced dental care. Equipment and clinical capabilities available include, but are not limited to, Digital Radiography, Dental Radiography, Ultrasound, Tonopen, an In-House Laboratory and an In-House Pharmacy, alongside the hospital’s surgical facilities and technology. Its surgical capabilities extend across routine, soft tissue and orthopedic procedures, including TPLO, giving the team plenty of scope to keep more involved cases within the hospital. The practice also provides pet boarding and dog daycare. The hospital is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Saturday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, and is closed on Sundays.

Team
You’ll be joining an established 4-DVM team, including a Medical Director, alongside a sizeable support team that currently includes Certified Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Assistants and Technician Assistants, as well as dedicated management and client service teams. There’s a real emphasis on people working together and making use of everyone’s individual skills, with the hospital continuing to invest in formal continuing education, new equipment and ongoing in-house training. With four veterinarians already in the practice and a particularly experienced technical team around them, there should be plenty of opportunity to talk through cases, share ideas and draw on the knowledge of the people around you without losing the independence to manage your own patients.

Candidate Requirements

  • Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
  • Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
  • Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
