Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a hospital established in 1989, and they are seeking a full-time Associate Veterinarian (Mixed or Small Animal). The practice sees a varied caseload consisting of 55% bovine (45% beef and 10% dairy) and 45% companion animal, with flexibility for the successful candidate to focus solely on small animals or participate in both areas.
Role Description and Responsibilities
This role involves the full scope of general practice responsibilities, encompassing a broad range of clinical duties. The position is open to both experienced veterinarians and new graduates, offering flexibility in doctor hours which are open to discussion.
Practice Details
The hospital operates Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm, Saturday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm, and is closed on Sundays. It is well-equipped and offers comprehensive facilities for both large and small animal care. Large animal facilities include a haul-in facility with a Flying W hydraulic squeeze/tilt chute, interior equine stocks, and a box stall. There are two IBEX portable ultrasound units for on-farm use and one Aloka unit for in-clinic use, along with Bowie portable radiology equipment. The practice is currently building a second working facility to support additional haul-in work. Small animal facilities include four exam rooms, a dedicated surgery suite, dental services, digital radiography, two ultrasound machines, and Arthrex orthopaedics equipment. In-house diagnostics are supported by an updated IDEXX laboratory featuring two IDEXX Catalysts, SediVue, and Procyte. There is also a separate isolation ward and exam room. The practice provides a full range of general practice services, including large animal reproduction, herd health, and emergency services.
Team
The team consists of four full-time and one part-time veterinarian, supported by a practice manager, eight full- or part-time veterinary technicians and assistants, an inventory manager, four kennel staff, and a receptionist team.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
