Introduction
Offering the close-knit feel of a smaller community hospital alongside a useful range of in-house diagnostic capabilities, this practice in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is looking to welcome an Associate Veterinarian. Providing care for dogs and cats, the hospital focuses on General Practice medicine with dentistry, surgery and diagnostic care available in-house. The relatively compact veterinary team creates a nice opportunity for someone who enjoys getting to know their clients and patients properly, while the hospital’s daytime opening hours offer a more traditional GP working environment.

Role Description and Responsibilities
This role encompasses the full scope of General Practice responsibilities, giving you the opportunity to take ownership of cases across preventive medicine, diagnostics, treatment planning, dentistry and surgery. You’ll be able to make use of the hospital’s in-house diagnostic capabilities when patients require further investigation and remain involved throughout their care, from the initial consultation through treatment and ongoing management. Client relationships are an important part of the position, with the smaller hospital environment providing plenty of opportunity to develop continuity with pet owners rather than simply moving through a high-volume caseload. You’ll also have access to additional clinical knowledge and specialist support through the wider veterinary network when a case would benefit from another perspective.

Practice Details
The hospital provides a full scope of GP services alongside comprehensive dentistry and Soft Tissue Surgery. Equipment and clinical capabilities available include, but are not limited to, Digital Radiography, Dental Radiography, Ultrasound, EKG and Tonopen, alongside an In-House Pharmacy and dedicated In-Office Surgical Suite with anesthesia equipment. This provides a good foundation for working up and managing a varied General Practice caseload internally while retaining the familiar feel of a smaller community hospital. Current opening hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Saturday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, and the hospital is closed on Sundays.

Team
You’ll currently be joining a single-doctor veterinary team, working alongside an established group of Veterinary Assistants, client service professionals and hospital management. The smaller setup should provide plenty of opportunity to work closely with the existing team and become a meaningful part of the hospital rather than simply joining a large doctor roster. Teamwork is something the hospital places particular emphasis on, while access to the wider veterinary network and board-certified specialists provides another source of clinical support when more complicated cases require additional input.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
