Job Description

Introduction
A progressive, mixed-animal hospital in Pagosa Springs, Colorado is seeking a compassionate Associate Veterinarian to join its two-doctor team. The practice is known for integrating traditional Western medicine with Eastern approaches such as acupuncture and herbal medicine, providing care for companion pets, livestock, horses, alpacas, and even exotic wildlife like elk. With a strong reputation for holistic, high-quality veterinary care, this opportunity offers a truly unique blend of professional fulfillment and an outdoor mountain lifestyle.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with weekends closed. On-call and mobile assistance for large animals and emergencies are part of the services provided, though scheduling is flexible and designed to support a healthy work-life balance.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Associate Veterinarian will deliver high-quality medical, surgical, and diagnostic care, while also having the opportunity to learn and practice Chinese medicine modalities such as acupuncture and herbal therapy. Responsibilities include physical exams, treatment planning, surgery, dental procedures, and large animal services. Mentorship is available for veterinarians interested in expanding their skills in integrative medicine.

Practice Details
The hospital spans more than 3,700 square feet and includes three exam rooms, a full surgical suite, digital radiography, a cold laser therapy unit, an in-house pharmacy, and advanced diagnostic tools. Additional offerings include orthopedic surgery, physical therapy, and Chinese medicine services. The practice prides itself on a cheerful, welcoming environment, even featuring a talking bird who greets clients in the lobby.

Team
The current team includes two veterinarians supported by two technicians per doctor and a dedicated support staff. Led by a veterinarian with extensive experience in holistic medicine and lecturing at the Chi Institute of Traditional Veterinary Medicine, the team emphasizes mentorship, collaboration, and the integration of both Western and Eastern veterinary techniques.
