Introduction
A long-established mixed-animal hospital in Pagosa Springs, Colorado is looking to hire a Mixed Animal Veterinarian. The hospital provides care across both small and large animals, including dogs, cats, horses, cattle and camelids, making this a great opportunity for someone who enjoys having plenty of variety in their working week. The practice has been a longstanding part of the Pagosa Springs community and combines traditional veterinary medicine with a broader range of treatment options, all within a friendly and supportive clinical environment.

Role Description and Responsibilities
This role encompasses the full scope of mixed-animal veterinary responsibilities, giving you the opportunity to manage your own cases across both small and large animal medicine. You’ll be involved across general medicine, diagnostics, surgery and preventative care, while also having the chance to get involved with large-animal emergencies and a genuinely varied caseload. There’s plenty of scope to use your own clinical judgement and take ownership of cases, while working alongside veterinarians with considerable experience across mixed-animal practice, surgery, large-animal emergency medicine and integrative care. The hospital also has a particularly interesting background in acupuncture and integrative medicine, giving you the opportunity to work around some less conventional treatment options alongside traditional Western medicine if that’s an area you’re interested in developing.

Practice Details
The hospital provides a full scope of GP and mixed-animal services, with additional capabilities including acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, Cold Laser Therapy, medical ozone therapy and pulsed electromagnetic field therapy. Equipment and clinical resources available include, but are not limited to, an In-House Laboratory, diagnostic equipment, Cold Laser Therapy equipment and surgical facilities, allowing plenty of cases to be investigated and managed within the hospital. The practice also provides boarding and daycare, with veterinary oversight available on-site. The hospital is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Team
You’ll currently be joining a 2-DVM team, working alongside veterinary assistants and client service professionals. There’s a really interesting mix of experience between the existing doctors, particularly across mixed-animal medicine, surgery, large-animal emergencies, acupuncture and integrative medicine, giving you plenty of knowledge to tap into when you want another perspective on a case. The wider hospital puts a real emphasis on genuine teamwork and creating a supportive environment, so while you’ll have the independence to manage your own patients, you’ll also have people around you to bounce ideas off and continue learning from as you settle into the practice.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
