Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a privately owned, full-service general practice hospital that currently treats cats and dogs, with an openness to expanding services to include pocket pets, birds, or reptiles if a doctor has a special interest in those areas. They are seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join their established team.
Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Tuesday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Thursday from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The hospital is closed on Sundays. A full-time schedule consists of four weekdays and rotating Saturdays, though there is flexibility to accommodate part-time arrangements. Full-time benefits are available for those working 35 hours or more.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Associate Veterinarian will manage a variety of cases with a strong clinical focus that includes wellness, internal medicine, dentistry, and surgery. Standard appointments are scheduled in 20-minute blocks, with 40 minutes allocated for sick pets, new clients, or complex cases requiring diagnostics. The role is open to both experienced veterinarians and new graduates, with mentorship provided to support professional development.
Practice Details
The clinic places a strong emphasis on the veterinarian-client relationship. With a 30-year history in the community and generational client loyalty, the clinic is situated in an affluent area where the focus can remain on high-quality care. Culture is a core value, nurtured and prioritized within the team. The practice is equipped with high-end tools for general practice, most of which have been updated in the past five years. Equipment includes a GE Versana ultrasound, a new X-ray table/generator/system, advanced anaesthesia monitoring, and comprehensive in-house IDEXX lab equipment. The clinic uses Cornerstone PIMS, which is well-managed and integrated into the workflow.
Team
The hospital is staffed by 4 doctors, with each being supported by at least 2.5 technicians and a strong team of support staff. The work environment is collaborative, with a focus on mentorship and a commitment to maintaining a positive and engaged culture.
