Introduction
An established veterinary hospital in Newport News, Virginia is seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join its team. The AAHA-accredited hospital provides comprehensive veterinary care for dogs, cats, and exotics with a focus on progressive small-animal medicine and high clinical standards. The position provides the opportunity to manage a varied General Practice caseload within a collaborative clinical environment, with access to advanced diagnostics, Urgent Care capabilities and internal specialty consultation for more complex cases.

Role Description and Responsibilities
This role encompasses the full scope of General Practice responsibilities, including wellness and preventive care, diagnostic investigation, treatment planning, dentistry, surgery and ongoing medical management. The successful veterinarian will take responsibility for patient care from diagnosis through treatment, with the clinical autonomy to make appropriate medical decisions and maintain high standards of care. Responsibilities also include developing long-term client relationships, clearly communicating clinical findings and treatment recommendations, and educating owners to support informed decision-making. The Associate Veterinarian will work closely with the wider paraprofessional team, with opportunities for continued education, mentorship, advanced skill development and future career progression.

Practice Details
The hospital provides a full scope of GP services, alongside Urgent Care, Emergency Stabilization, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Behavioral Care, Laser Therapy and Pain Management. Equipment and clinical capabilities available include, but are not limited to, Digital Radiography, Ultrasound, Tonometry and Blood & Laboratory Testing, alongside modern anesthetic agents and advanced anesthetic monitoring equipment. The hospital is open Monday through Wednesday from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, Thursday and Friday from 7:30 AM to 10:00 PM and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with the hospital closed on Sundays. Dedicated Urgent Care is available Thursday and Friday from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM and Saturday from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

Team
The hospital has an established four-veterinarian team, supported by a comprehensive group of Licensed Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Assistants, practice management and client service professionals. The hospital places a strong emphasis on collaboration when managing challenging cases. Structured development opportunities support continued education, advanced clinical skill development, while the established paraprofessional team provides day-to-day support across appointments, diagnostics, procedures and patient care.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
