Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a family-owned veterinary service based in New York City dedicated exclusively to providing peaceful, dignified end-of-life care for pets in the comfort of their homes. This compassionate and highly personalized practice views their work as more than a profession—it is a calling. They are seeking an Associate Veterinarian who is empathetic, emotionally intelligent, and committed to guiding families through one of the most meaningful moments in their pet’s life.
Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position with a structured schedule designed to prioritize quality over quantity. Veterinarians conduct no more than five appointments per day, allowing ample time for compassionate communication and personalized care during each visit.
Role Description and Responsibilities
In this role, you will lead end-of-life and quality-of-life consultations with warmth, patience, and clinical expertise. Responsibilities include performing in-home euthanasia appointments, guiding families through aftercare options, providing grief support with sensitivity, and managing the respectful transport of deceased pets. You will be trusted to navigate diverse family dynamics with compassion and professionalism, ensuring every client feels heard, supported, and cared for during a deeply emotional time. While the current focus is small animals, the practice is open to expanding services to other species depending on your interests and experience.
Practice Details
This service is dedicated exclusively to in-home end-of-life and hospice-style care, offering a calm and supportive alternative to traditional clinical settings. The organization emphasizes personalized attention, unhurried appointments, and creating meaningful final moments for pets and their families. The culture prioritizes empathy, professionalism, and maintaining the highest standards of dignity throughout the entire process.
Team
The team is composed of compassionate veterinary professionals who share a deep commitment to providing comfort-focused care. Collaboration, emotional support, and shared purpose are central to the organization’s values, creating a fulfilling and mission-driven working environment.
