Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a modern veterinary hospital seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join their growing team. This is a brand new, purpose-built facility within an expanding group of hospitals, offering an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the hospital’s growth from the very beginning. The position is full-time, although the team is open to discussing different scheduling options. The hospital provides care for cats and dogs.
Role Description and Responsibilities
As the Associate Veterinarian, you will initially work as the sole doctor, taking responsibility for managing your own caseload with confidence. The role will involve a combination of consultations, surgery, diagnosing and treating patients, with surgery being an essential part of the position. You will also play an important role in building the caseload as the hospital continues to grow. Initially, you can expect to see approximately 6–10 appointments per day, with this increasing over time to around 16–18 appointments as the practice becomes more established. The hospital is looking for an experienced veterinarian who is comfortable working independently and managing cases. Working hours are flexible and can be discussed, although weekend work is required. The hospital operates throughout the weekend, with plans to expand to seven-day opening in the future. Ideally, the schedule would be worked across four days, although three-day schedules and other working patterns will also be considered.
Practice Details
The hospital is open from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm and provides a combination of general practice and urgent care services for cats and dogs. During the week, approximately 75% of the caseload consists of general practice appointments, while weekends see a more even split between general practice and urgent care cases. This is a brand new, modern veterinary hospital designed with advanced technology at its core. The practice makes extensive use of AI and technology to improve efficiency, allowing veterinarians to spend more time focusing on patient care. Facilities include in-house laboratory equipment, digital radiology, and other modern diagnostic equipment.
Team
You will initially be the only veterinarian at the hospital, making this an ideal opportunity for an experienced doctor who enjoys autonomy and helping to establish and grow a practice. You will be supported by experienced, registered veterinary technicians, with a planned technician-to-doctor ratio of 2:1, ensuring you have dedicated clinical support while delivering high-quality patient care.
