Job Description
Introduction
A modern veterinary hospital that has been caring for the Middleton community since 2021 is looking to hire an Associate Veterinarian. The hospital provides care for dogs, cats and exotic pets including small mammals, reptiles and ferrets, with a broad caseload that gives its veterinarians plenty of variety in their day. There’s a nice balance here between the personal feel of a community practice and the ability to work through more involved cases, making it a good fit for someone who enjoys building relationships with clients without being limited to straightforward GP medicine.
Role Description and Responsibilities
This role encompasses the full scope of General Practice responsibilities, giving you the opportunity to take ownership of your cases across diagnostics, treatment planning, medicine, surgery and dentistry. The hospital is particularly well set up for veterinarians who enjoy having the freedom to work through more involved cases, with a broad range of diagnostics available in-house and direct access to board-certified specialists within the wider clinical network when another perspective would be useful. You’ll still have plenty of independence in how you manage your patients, but there’s good support around you when you want to talk through a case or make use of additional expertise. The existing doctors have experience across areas including Emergency Medicine, Urgent Care, soft tissue surgery and dentistry, which adds another useful layer of knowledge within the hospital itself.
Practice Details
The hospital provides a full scope of GP services alongside Urgent Care, Exotic Pet Care, Laser Therapy and behavioral care, with the team also able to manage a good range of more involved medical and surgical cases in-house. Equipment and clinical capabilities available include, but are not limited to, Radiography, Dental Radiography, Ultrasound, an In-House Laboratory, EKG, Tonometry and modern anesthetic monitoring equipment, alongside state-of-the-art surgical equipment. This gives the team a good diagnostic foundation for working through cases without immediately needing to refer elsewhere, while direct collaboration with board-certified specialists provides additional support for more complex patients. The hospital is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Saturday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and is closed on Sundays.
Team
You’ll currently be joining a 3-DVM team, with a really useful mix of experience across the existing doctors. Clinical interests and backgrounds within the team include Emergency Medicine, Urgent Care, soft tissue surgery, dentistry and companion animal medicine, giving you experienced colleagues to bounce ideas off when another opinion would be helpful. There’s a strong focus on providing high-quality medicine while keeping the environment friendly and personal, with the wider hospital team working together to support both the doctors and their patients. It’s the kind of setup where you can have plenty of independence with your own cases while still having people around you to share knowledge with and continue learning from.
