Job Description

Introduction
A long-established small animal hospital that has been caring for pets in Woodland Hills, California and the surrounding communities for more than 40 years is looking to hire a full-time Associate Veterinarian. Working primarily with dogs and cats, the hospital combines the personal feel and strong client relationships of a longstanding community practice with a recently remodeled clinical environment and a broad range of medical and surgical capabilities. It’s a particularly nice opportunity for an experienced veterinarian who values having the freedom to practice medicine in their own way while still being part of a collaborative and well-supported team.

Role Description and Responsibilities
This role encompasses the full scope of General Practice responsibilities, giving you the opportunity to take ownership of a varied caseload across preventive medicine, diagnostics, treatment planning, surgery and dentistry. Medical autonomy is a big part of the opportunity, with the hospital encouraging its veterinarians to use their own clinical judgement when working through cases and deciding on the most appropriate approach for their patients. Building genuine relationships with clients is equally important, with plenty of opportunity to stay involved throughout a pet’s care and communicate directly with owners around treatment and ongoing wellness. This opportunity is suited to an experienced veterinarian, and there’s also a strong emphasis on continued professional development, with tailored development programs and continuing education support available as you continue building on your existing clinical interests.

Practice Details
The hospital is a USDA-accredited, full-service medical and surgical facility providing a full scope of GP services alongside advanced surgery and Laser Therapy, with dentistry, diagnostic imaging and in-house testing also forming part of the clinical offering. Equipment and clinical capabilities available include, but are not limited to, Digital Radiography, Digital Dental Radiography, Ultrasound and an In-House Laboratory, alongside general anesthesia and surgical monitoring capabilities. The hospital has also been recently remodeled, providing a modern environment for both the clinical team and its patients. Current hospital hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with Saturdays and Sundays closed.

Team
You’ll be joining a growing 5-doctor hospital, working alongside an established team of veterinary technicians, assistants and wider support staff. There’s a real emphasis on everyone working well together and making the most of the skills across the team, with the support staff involved across areas such as dentistry, anesthesia, surgery, diagnostic imaging and in-house laboratory work. With several veterinarians already within the hospital, there should be plenty of people around to bounce ideas off and collaborate with when another perspective would be useful, while the emphasis on medical autonomy means you’ll still have the independence to manage your own cases and practice in the way that works best for you.

Candidate Requirements
