Job Description

Introduction
An established veterinary hospital in Leighton, Alabama is seeking a full or part-time Associate Veterinarian to join its team. Serving the local community since 1999, the hospital provides comprehensive veterinary care across companion and large animal medicine, treating dogs and cats alongside horses, cattle, sheep, goats and pigs. The position provides the opportunity to manage a broad medical and surgical caseload within a full-service environment. This opportunity is suited to an experienced veterinarian, with at least one year of veterinary practice experience required.

Role Description and Responsibilities
This role encompasses the full scope of General Practice responsibilities, including wellness and preventive care, diagnostic investigation, treatment planning, dentistry, surgery and ongoing medical management. The successful veterinarian will undertake comprehensive patient examinations and medical work-ups, perform diagnostic procedures and surgery, maintain accurate medical records and prescribe medications. Responsibilities also include developing effective client relationships, clearly communicating diagnostic findings and treatment options, and working collaboratively with the veterinary and support teams to maintain high clinical standards and efficient patient care. The veterinarian will additionally work with hospital management on clinical priorities, protocols and workflows, while monitoring hospitalized cases and contributing to daily rounds where appropriate. Strong diagnostic, clinical, surgical and dental skills are required for the position.

Practice Details
The hospital provides a full scope of GP services, alongside Urgent Care, Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Dentistry, Soft Tissue Surgery and Orthopedic Surgery, with additional veterinary services available for large animals. Equipment and clinical capabilities include, but are not limited to, Digital Radiography, Ultrasound and a comprehensive In-House Laboratory, with bloodwork, urinalysis and additional diagnostic testing available on site. The hospital also has a dedicated surgical suite with electronic patient monitoring equipment, supporting a broad surgical caseload that extends to Orthopedic procedures including TTA, FHO and fracture repair using pins and plates. Urgent cases are assessed and managed during regular hospital hours, with overnight care available for patients when required. The hospital operates entirely on a walk-in basis and is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Team
The hospital has an established veterinary and support structure, with one veterinarian alongside a Hospital Manager, Veterinary Assistants, Kennel Assistant and Receptionist. The incoming Associate Veterinarian will work closely with this established support team across appointments, diagnostics, surgery, hospitalized cases and Urgent Care presentations, while also collaborating with the Hospital Manager and wider operational leadership. The position provides substantial clinical autonomy within a hospital capable of managing a broad range of medical and surgical cases, alongside access to continuing education and wider professional development resources.
